Set in the small village of Lyng Easthaugh in the Wensum Valley, Catch 22 Fishing Centre is an ideal location for those that enjoy peaceful and rural surroundings. It features two well stocked lakes with nicely maintained purpose built swims. The Day Ticket and No.2 Season Ticket Lake are home to large fin and strong fighting Dutch bred carp, as well as specimen size roach, bream, tench and pike. On site we have a large tackle shop, breakfast cafe, indoor toilets and showers, two Scandinavian holiday lodges, outside toilets/drinking water and a quad/trailer service to save you barrowing your gear to your swim.Security cameras are installed and gates are locked at night to help provide a safe environment.
Facilities: 4/5
The facilities are very good, clean showers and a good tackle shop. They do a cooked breakfast for £6 and that's very good. We booked a log cabin for the week and found it very useful for cooking and storing food. They also offer transport of your gear to your swim via quad and trailer for £2.50 each way.
We slept in the bivvies at the side of the lake but made our evening meal in the cabin.
The cost of the cabin was £50 each, £100 for 2 people.
Quality of fishing: 3/5
The lake is very large for a day ticket lake with 32 pegs. There are some big fish in the lake but it is a bit of a ball breaker at times. The facilities are excellent.Ten of the bankside swims are doubles having room for two people: Peg 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 15, 20, 23, 28 and 31.
Disabled Facilities: N/A
I have no information on disabled facilities yet.
Fish Stocks: 3/5
The majority of the fish stock is made up of carp imported from Holland in 1994 and 1995. Predominately commons, it's also home to mirrors and leathers. Original stocks of roach, perch, tench, pike, bream and a few carp were left from the early days of Dereham Angling Club. Specimen size roach to 4lb, tench to 10lb, bream to 16lb and pike to over 30lb can be caught from both lakes.
In the Day Ticket Lake, the carp average 23lb, with a lot of anglers catching between 25-35lb fish. As at September, ninety-four 30lb plus fish have been caught during 2014.
We are still seeing 30lb plus fish being caught with full curtains that have never been hooked.
The Day Ticket Lake record stands at 45lb 9oz. The mirror known as 'twin bellies' was caught in November 2013.
As well as being home to Dutch carp No.2 Lake also has a mixture of Royales Italian and a couple of old English beauties. The majority of the carp weigh between 28-38lb. There are four known forties: the big common which holds the Lake Record at 48lb 2oz (July and August 2014), the leather, a mirror and another common tipping the scales at over forty.

Overall: 4/5
The fishing can be very hard at times but there is some large carp to 40lb in the lake. They are Dutch Carp. Overall Catch 22 offers good value for money but don't expect the Carp to give themselves up easily and you won't land a UK PB because they are Dutch fish but it's a good alternative to fishing in France only a lot cheaper. Facilities are top drawer.
